Bad and Park Tiefenbrunnen were designed in 1954 by garden architect Hans Nussbaumer, formerly with Gebrüder Mertens. The grounds lie in part on the landfill completed for the national exhibition of 1939; it is used in summer as a swimming recreation area and in winter as a park. It is listed in the municipal inventory of gardens and parks worthy of protection in the city of Zurich. The original design has been largely protected, but not very sensitive adaptations to use and maintenance needs are increasingly endangering the special atmosphere of the grounds.
The restoration of Bad and Park Tiefenbrunnen will include smaller and medium size measures. Buildings in a bad state of repair will be renovated, changes to the building substance will be corrected historically, and where necessary certain things will be adapted to today’s uses. The restoration will also include replacing and adding trees. The special area for small children with the paddling pool will be strongly improved to increase its attractiveness.
