The original garden grounds of the Nürenberg estate went through far-reaching changes not only since the time of the model farm of Johann Jakob Ott (1754), citizen of Zurich. Numerous changes in property owner as well as the construction of the teacher college and a street, Rotbuchstrasse, led to a massive reduction in the land area as compared to the garden grounds that were originally operated as an exemplary country estate. The gardens assessed are the last remaining fragments of the Nürenberggut, whichh was later called the Rotbuchgut.
